ChurchTechCast.com Screencast show: Troubleshooting when ProPresenter won’t boot

How to troubleshoot when ProPresenter won’t load on a Mac

1. Define the problem.
Different problems have different solutions, so these steps won’t work if you have a power issue, a bad HD, no audio, no video, etc.

2. Reboot
More often than not, this will fix the issue.

3. Check the version and download the current one.
Sometimes known bugs have been fixed, but you don’t have the fix. In that case, an update will do the trick. I’d drag the current version to another folder just in case though.

4. Follow the troubleshooting steps on the Renewed Vision forum at the address below:
http://forums.renewedvision.com/showthread.php/8580-Troubleshooting-instructions-for-ProPresenter-5-for-Mac

5. Try a different user account.
All preferences are stored in each user account, so a fresh one should start fine, if one of those is corrupt.

6. Check the OS and third party software.
If it’s still not working, it’s probably something on an OS level or a conflict with third-party software. Try updating the OS. If that doesn’t work, look for software updated or installed after the last time it worked and before it quit working and uninstall it. For me, that worked. It was a piece of software called, “EpocCam” or the latest update of “Divx”. I uninstalled them both and it worked again.

7. Call Renewed Vision.
It’s best to find out early (never change anything core right before a service). I’m told they’ll often remote in and take a look, but time is your friend here.

Hope it helps.
