On today’s Tech Help for Churches, Streamable, Downloadable, Playable, & Making your Podcast Better

In church tech, we sometimes think that our media could never compete with the big boys. Sometimes that’s true, but there are advantages that we can capitalize on.

You have an advantage that many big media companies don’t. You can make your content available any way people want to consume it. So, I recommend that you make it easy to download (if it’s a podcast, it should already be downloadable, but make sure it’s easily downloadable), streamable (so that they can listen when they’re out and about without fully downloading), and playable in as many ways as makes sense, but without DRM (digital rights management).

Once you’ve done that, do your best to make the content better. Learn from the masters of shows like yours (in format, not content).

Get help from others, in production and as co-hosts.

Keep practicing, with an eye toward improvement.

Get feedback from your audience and take the good stuff while eliminating the bad.
