Here’s a quick tip I just learned. I know, quit laughing at “The Guy that Literally Wrote the Book on Twitter in the Church” if you already knew this, but not everyone can know everything. 😉
Anyway, you know that a url (web link) normally looks something like this: http://mysite.com
If you want to create a link to tweet something on your site (or in a newsletter or whatever), use: http://twitter.com/home?status=Put in your unique 140 character message here. Don't forget a link. http://mysite.com
Wanna get a little more geeky? Wrap that in the html anchor tags, add a “title” attribute and tell it to open in another window and you get <a title=”Click to tweet this!” href=”http://twitter.com/home?status=Put in your unique 140 character message here. Don’t forget a link. http://mysite.com” target=”_blank”>Tweet This!</a>
Now, there’s no reason that you can’t use a “Tweet this” icon instead of the text, but if you’re writing, why not sprinkle tweetable links that are easy to tweet in your text. You put in: <a title=”Click to tweet this!” href=”http://twitter.com/home?status=Add one-click tweetable links to your posts. http://bit.ly/10YKrHs” target=”_blank”>Add one-click tweetable links to your posts. (One-click tweetable link)</a>
and you get:
