Backups
When you have data, you need to guard that data somehow to make sure it’s not lost. I recommend having three copies, on two forms of media, at least one copy being off-site. Additionally, automatic backup is better than having to remember to do it.

Bandwidth
Don’t bet against your own success. Make sure you host your podcast files on a podcast media host like Libsyn.com (which I use) and Blubrry.com.

Ending your podcast well
Nothing lasts forever. As such, you have a few options when it comes time to end your podcast. First, you could “podfade.” That’s what happens when you mean to podcast, but life gets in the way and you never do.

If you need a break, handing off your podcast to someone else like Jeremy Sarber did with this podcast is another option.

You could just take some time off by announcing a hiatus and returning after the announced amount of time.

Finally, if it’s time to end, just end it. Make sure you’re clear though. Don’t give your audience the chance to believe that you might come back. Make a clean break.
