Creating an Electronic Church Newsletter for the 21st Century | Tech Help for Churches

On today’s Tech Help for Churches, Creating a Church Electronic Newsletter

[tweet “What technology should you use to make a church electronic newsletter? You might be surprised.”]

When they think about transitioning from paper to a church electronic newsletter, there are a bunch of possibilities.

You could use social media, but Twitter’s 140 characters is too short and FaceBook’s algorithm changes make is so a maximum of 25% of the people who like your church’s page will even see it.

You could put it on the website, but how many of your congregation visit the site on a regular basis? We have a great site for my church and I only visit it about monthly, but not on a regular schedule, so I’d probably miss out on it there.

What about new media like podcasting or streaming? While I love those forms, they don’t make clickable links easy and most people won’t watch or listen.

Believe it or not, email is the best choice. Just make sure that you get a good email address and follow the best practices I talk about next week.
