Hidden in Preferences – Displays in ProPresenter 6 is a tiny check box that says, “Enable Syphon”. If you check it, it doesn’t seem to do anything. That’s because Syphon is a MacOS (sorry Pro6 for Windows users) open source utility that allows software to send and receive video from other software.

Want to make the output of ProPresenter into a webcam that another piece of software sees? No problem. Download Camtwist and add Pro6 as a source.

Want to live stream from pro6? Download OBS and add Pro6 as a source directly. Then, just put in the right information from your live streaming host and your online congregation can see pro6 directly.

This is all using Syphon to send video out of Pro6, but it can also go the other way, too. We’ll look at that in the future.

  1. From my research, it looks like it does NOT share over the network. Here’s what I’d do instead. Use the ProPresenter Master control module from your main machine to another one with OBS and Pro6. Pro6 doesn’t need to have the output on to send it through syphon so that should lower the processor overhead.
